The institute is leading research unit in terms of power electronics in Poland and is recognized as one of important centres in Europe, just to mention recently organized in Warsaw EPE-ECCE 2017 \u2013 a main European conference in the area of power electronics and drives (prof. R\u0105bkowski served as a chairman)<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The research group of prof. R\u0105bkowski is focused on Silicon Carbide and Gallium Nitride&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=powerelectronics&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6741720601771159552\">#powerelectronics<\/a>&nbsp;(SiC &amp; GaN forums). It is among the international leaders for&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=teaching&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6744546069327159296\">#teaching<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=research&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6744546069327159296\">#research<\/a>&nbsp;within its field. Strong-point areas include energy technology, energy consumption and energy planning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>From the department of Electric Power Engineering, the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=powerelectronics&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6744546069327159296\">#PowerElectronics<\/a>&nbsp;Systems and Components research group will be involved in the MoReSiC project and in particular Associate Professor&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ACoAAAOXvY8BAUhZlpxx39qbeMdAKHbj-l2dses\">Dimosthenis Peftitsis<\/a>, who will be the NTNU project manager. The focus of his research is on medium-voltage power electronics technologies and medium voltage grid components (i.e. DC breakers), SiC-based&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=powerconverters&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6744546069327159296\">#powerconverters<\/a>&nbsp;for high-efficiency operation, reliability assessment and lifetime modelling of high-power Silicon and SiC&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=semiconductors&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6744546069327159296\">#semiconductors<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among these focal areas, modularized DC\/DC converter design, optimization and testing for medium-voltage direct current (MVDC) distribution grids is a prioritized activity within the group. In addition, industrial experience of Markel company will allow supporting other consortium members in implementing of all project stages.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>Markel Sp. z o.o is an&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=engineering&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6746851291370151936\">#engineering<\/a>&nbsp;company working in field of&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=powerelectronics&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6746851291370151936\">#powerelectronics<\/a>,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=electricalengineering&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6746851291370151936\">#electricalengineering<\/a>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=controlsystems&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6746851291370151936\">#controlsystems<\/a>. The company\u2019s activities focus primarily on the traction, mining, automotive,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/feed\/hashtag\/?keywords=renewableenergy&amp;highlightedUpdateUrns=urn%3Ali%3Aactivity%3A6746851291370151936\">#renewableenergy<\/a>&nbsp;and energy storage markets. The dynamically operating R&amp;D department undertakes to solve difficult technical problems even at a small target production scale. Due to the business contacts of Markel, the company as one of the first in the world had the opportunity to test and apply high-voltage silicon carbide MOSFETs modules.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today the company employs 50 people.
