Information on current activities of Ving Tsun Athletics Association Poland

Our organization and kung fu school have a long and glorious history. Its origins begins from 1979, when the first Chinese martial arts school at students' club of the Politechnika Warszawska (the Warsaw Institute of Technology) rose. It was managed by J.Szymankiewicz right from the start. The school maintained close contacts with many recognized authorities in kung fu over the world. It often appeared that well known names were not the best. But let pass over that in silence. Many training journeys to China and South-East Asia strengthened the stable position of the school. Then many sub-schools rose. Their range reached almost twenty towns and fifteen hundred of students. That big organization took name of Ving Tsun Kung Fu Center. The size of the organization caused that it was unable to provide a high level of learning standards, and face to face teaching. Therefore in 1985 the Center decided to exchange quantity for quality. It caused both diminishing of a number of students and uplifting a level of teaching standards. The rightness of the decision was conformed in many confrontations with exponents of that and other schools in Poland and abroad.
Our organization deals with Ving Tsun kung fu system from the beginning. Now Ving Tsun system is the main field the organization operates on. In the mid eighties Sifu J.Szymankiewicz and then other instructors got to know the basic knowledge of the following systems: cang quan, bagua zahng, yang taiji quan, the traditional weapons kung fu, an energetic massage based on the elements of qi gong theory.
Nowadays, we draw our attention specifically to the research of Yang taiji and He quan systems. Development of our knowledge and practice of those systems, and interest in them of people who came to our organization caused that the agenda of Ving Tsun Athletic Association Poland now
consists of studying:

1) a complete martial system that belongs to the group of so-called external systems waijia, Ving Tsun kuen that comes from Master Wong Shun Leung's direct passing,
2) basics of martial systems that belongs to the group of so-called internal systems neijia, Yang Taiji quan that comes from Master Cheng Man Ching  passing,
3) Bagua zhang that comes from Master Cheng Ting Hua.
Furthermore, there is the Unconventional Chinese Medicine Therapeutic Center at the Association. That Center manages the special courses for children mainly from primary school, elderly people, and people before and after infarct. The training sessions are designed in accordance with Yan Yaiji quan program and qi gong massage. All courses are conducted directly or under supervision of

Master Janusz Szymankiewicz,
qualified Sifu from Hong Kong Ving Tsun Athletic Association, Chinese Wu Shu Association and Beijing Wu Shu Research Institute.

The training sessions are organized for the members of the Association within regular taken courses in exclusive, small groups which are adjusted to the students' knowledge and talent.
The training camp is organized in the beautiful sceneries of Polish regions every year. Even the whole families can participate in the camp.
Ving Tsun Athletic Association Poland teaches in accordance with the standard rules which held good in family kung fu schools in ancient China. There are no unrealistic ranks. The effort, and real knowledge matter. The position in the hierarchy comes from the seniority rule but a special responsibility is involved in it. Nothing belongs to anyone all the time. You must check up yourself every single minute of your life. The students are evaluated not only by their attendance at courses but by their intelligence, loyalty, devotion to the martial art, comradeship, and respect manifested as well. You must be accepted by your kung fu brothers and fulfil other conditions that are the exclusive matters of the Association, so this is not the best place to elucidate them now.
Physical strength which increases as the students regularly practice, or money (the members of the tong and even some regular students don't pay for training sessions at all) don't enter into account. What really counts is willingness and being a great-hearted person.
I have taught a few thousand of people for many years. But until this time only few achieved the position of the formal student of mine. They are: P..Duszynski, A.Rychta, P.Piotrowski, P.Szawernowski, M.Cydzik, M.Tusiewicz, P.Bieszke and Sl.Wolski. There are among them even those who hasn't come up to my expectations for various reasons. Only few became the members of my own tong. They are: A.Urbanowski, P.Kolkowski, R.Mikolajczuk, P.Paplinski, M.Pietkun, and M.Majchrzak. That's it.
I would like to enumerate the rules that belong to Master Wong Shun Leung's martial art school in Poland. Those rules refer to others martial art schools as well. Students have to remember that they study a real martial art. For centuries many people died and sustained injuries in order to maintain and pass the knowledge. We wouldn't learn the art without those great people. Therefore a special responsibility is laid on all students. They must manifest it as a friendly relation to their training partners, protecting, and further passing along the martial art to the next generations, using the technics only when someone's life is threatened, and fighting for great and moral ideals only.
The truths of the real fighting are the following:

 # There are no sophisticated and subtle ways, or "secret energies". The only thing
that matters is demolishing an opponent before he would do that to you.
 # Size of the opponent matters. So it is risky to guess a final result of a fight.
 # Prepare yourself physically and mentally for taking many hits in real fight.
 # Ving Tsun kung fu is a tremendous fighting system which gives you
an advantage over an opponent. But even if your chancesto win accounts
for 70 per cent, your opponent's chances accounts for 30 per cent.
So if you hit three times, your opponent hits you once at least.
 # If you were attacked by someone you needn't to react "tooth for tooth"
but you should always react "eye for eye".
 # Remember, nature don't ever know feeling of mercy.
 # Try to demolish your opponent as hard as he demolishes you.
 # Acting effectively means quicker, more dangerous,
more precise, harder, and sticking at nothing.
 # In fighting you must concentrate on one thing only, the most direct and
quicker attack. And if your attack faces with difficulty
you have to use chi sao that is the only means of a final winning.
 # Never lose patience and never attack as the first unless
you are one pace away from your opponent.
 # After one effective kick it is extremely difficult or even impossible
to repeat an effective kick once again.
 # Try to attack unexpectedly. The effect of surprise gives you a win.
